Abstract
A new way to define simplified material parameters for cylindrical cloaks is developed. A Taylor series expansion of μθ dictated by a new constraint equation developed for simplified cylindrical cloak parameters, followed by solving for εz and μr leads to simplified cloaks with significantly improved scattering width performance when compared to previous published results. Numerical simulations show scattering width reductions for all angles of observation. Ideal results are approached as the number of terms in the Taylor series goes to infinity. We also show the simplified parameter set developed by Yan et al is simply the first term in this more general expansion.
